ASD(A) Established by NDAA

The recently enacted National Defense Authorization Act established the position of Assistant Secretary of Defense for Acquisition (ASD(A)) as the principal adviser to the Secretary of Defense and Under Secretary Defense for Acquisition, Technology and Logistics on acquisition-related matters. As a result of this action, the Office of the Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition and Technology (DUSD (A&T)) has been eliminated. One of the more outwardly visible signs of this change will be the renaming of the A&T Website on February 3 as the ASD(A) Website. Until the Senate confirms the new ASD(A), Mr. Shay Assad will perform the duties of the ASD(A) while continuing his duties as the Director of Defense Procurement and Acquisition Policy.
