Welcome to the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Research Engineering's (ASD(R&E)) Enterprise website portal: Your one-stop to link to and learn about how dedicated individuals are working to discover, develop, engineer, and field the critical technologies upon which our Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines rely. We are in a period of remarkable change. Innovation, speed, and agility have taken on greater importance to the Department of Defense's efforts given today's globalized access to knowledge and the rapid pace of technology development. In this environment, three factors have prominently shaped our thinking about the Department's science and technology program:

• New technical capabilities for new Department missions
• New approaches to overcome globalization of research and development
• Assuring the supply of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics talent for the Department

Every week, I will highlight the efforts of the dedicated men and women across our research and engineering enterprise working with these three factors in mind. I will also feature the improved management models and the four key imperatives that coordinate and guide our science and technology investments that help to lay the foundation for a secure future.
