Program Acquisition and Strategic Sourcing
Program Acquisition and Strategic Sourcing is responsible for formulating and overseeing contracting strategies supporting the procurement of major defense acquisition programs, major automated information systems and special interest projects, and for the championing of strategic sourcing policy and initiatives for the Department.
Every acquisition program relies on a sound acquisition strategy reflecting a knowledge-based approach designed to inform decision making, reduce technology, integration, and manufacturing risk, and ensure program predictability. Sound acquisition strategies and the accompanying business/contracting strategies are essential to the execution of all acquisition programs.
As the Department of Defense (DoD) continues to manage the challenges that face our Nation we must continually look for innovative and effective means to support our customers. Strategic sourcing is a proven best practice and represents how the DoD will acquire goods and services moving forward. It is the collaborative and structured process of analyzing an organization's spend and using the information to make business decisions about acquiring commodities and services more effectively and efficiently.
