America's military installations, including their associated environment, have many purposes. They must sustain the regular forward and home station presence of U.S. forces as well as provide support in training and deployment to meet the Nation's need in periods of crisis, contingency, and combat.

The Defense Environmental Network & Information eXchange (DENIX) provides DoD personnel in the environmental security and safety & occupational health arena (a principal staff element of the OUSD(AT&L) mission) with timely access to environmental legislative, compliance, restoration, cleanup, and DoD guidance information. It is intended to serve as a central electronic "meeting place" where information can be exchanged among environmental professionals worldwide.
