DoD Award for Supply Chain Operational Excellence

The Department of Defense Award for Supply Chain Operational Excellence honors organizations that have made exceptional progress through innovative development or adoption of best supply chain practices. It also provides a showcase for innovative management and technology tools being used to improve supply chain efficiency and effectiveness to enhance support to the warfighter.

The 2010 DoD Award for Supply Chain Operational Excellence has been earned by the Northern Distribution Network Team, consisting of United States Transportation Command, United States Central Command, United States European Command, the Department of State, and Defense Logistics Agency. This year’s award winner developed an entirely new ground supply route to support Operation Enduring Freedom, and its approach significantly reduced operational risk by increasing cargo capacity and enabling the smooth and steady flow of forces, their equipment and sustainment into Afghanistan.
