Strategic and Tactical Systems (S&TS)

The Office of Strategic and Tactical Systems (S&TS) provides portfolio management, technical and programmatic evaluation, and functional oversight for strategic and tactical programs in the areas of fixed-wing piloted aircraft, unmanned aircraft systems, land warfare and munitions, naval warfare programs and ballistic missile defense systems. In addition, the office ensures acquisition programs are integrated with global offenses and defenses, comply with arms control treaties and agreements and identifies, tracks and coordinates defense acquisition, technology and analytical efforts that are relevant to homeland defense.

Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense Darlene Costello is responsible for providing portfolio management, technical and programmatic evaluation and functional oversight. His office sustains Department of Defense (DoD) strategic and tactical programs in support of the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology and Logistics and the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Acquisition.
