DEFENSE FAR SUPPLEMENT (DFARS) Change Notice 20030603

DoD has published the following final and proposed DFARS rules in the Federal Register:

Final Rule:

Transportation of Supplies by Sea – Commercial Items (DFARS Case 2002-D019)

Changes the DFARS to add an alternate version of a clause, pertaining to the transportation of supplies by sea, this alternate clause is added to the list of clauses included in contracts for commercial items to implement statutory requirements.  The alternate clause requires contractors to use U.S.-flag vessels when transporting supplies by sea under contracts for commercial items at or below the simplified acquisition threshold, but requires less documentation from contractors under these contracts than is required for higher dollar value contracts.

Affected subparts/sections:  252.212
