Learning Opportunities: DAU and Coursera Partnership

Online offerings are a natural and convenient venue for providing additional learning. As the largest provider of massive online open courses, Coursera partners with top universities and organizations to offer more than 3,000 courses. The Defense Acquisition University (DAU) in alignment with its goal to expand training opportunities for the workforce, has agreed to provide licensing for specialization programs. These classes are free of charge to the acquisition workforce.

AGILE SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT TRAINING

Agile Development Specialization (University of Virginia)

In this Specialization, you'll gain an understanding and appreciation of the principles and practice of agile management. You'll learn to coordinate all aspects of the agile development process, including running design sprints, managing teams, and fostering a culture of experimentation. In the final Capstone Project, you'll apply what you've learned to guide a real-world software development project to successful completion.

Software Product Management (University of Alberta)

In this Software Product Management Specialization, you will master Agile software management practices to lead a team of developers and interact with clients. In the final Capstone Project, you will practice and apply management techniques to realistic scenarios that you will face as a Software Product Manager. You will have the opportunity to share your experiences and learn from the insights of others as part of Software Product Management.

Software Development Lifecycle Specialization (University of Minnesota)

This Specialization is designed for people who are new to software engineering. It's also for those who have already developed software, but wish to gain a deeper understanding of the underlying context and theory of software development practices. At the end of this Specialization, we expect learners to be able to:

  • Build high-quality and secure software using SDLC methodologies such as agile, lean, and traditional/waterfall.
  • Analyze a software development team's SDLC methodology and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Compare and contrast software development methodologies with respect to environmental, organizational, and product constraints.
