Our mission is to use Capability Portfolio Management to analyze, manage, and inform acquisition and resourcing decisions in platform and weapon portfolios, to include air, surface, and electronic warfare systems.
The Air Platforms and Weapons (APW) directorate conducts capability portfolio management and supports programs across the Military Departments for effective acquisition management of all DoD aviation platforms and air-launched weapons, to ensure critical capabilities are delivered to the Warfighter when required and as affordably as possible.
The Electronic Warfare (EW) directorate conducts capability portfolio management to manage, analyze, and inform acquisition and resourcing decisions for EW platform and weapon portfolios, as well as inform spectrum survivability decisions in systems dependent on the electromagnetic spectrum for operational success. Additionally, PWPM EW serves as the Executive Secretariat co-chair for the Electronic Warfare Executive Committee (EW EXCOM).
The Surface Warfare (SW) directorate conducts capability portfolio management and maintains and applies specialized acquisition and technical expertise to serve as the primary advisors in the Office of the Secretary of Defense for matters dealing with land and naval warfare, and for supporting related technology advancement and lifecycle considerations.
