Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Platform and Weapon Portfolio Management
The Air Platforms and Weapons (APW) directorate conducts capability portfolio management and supports programs across the Military Departments for effective acquisition management of all DoD aviation platforms and air-launched weapons, to ensure critical capabilities are delivered to the Warfighter when required and as affordably as possible.
The Electronic Warfare (EW) directorate conducts capability portfolio management to manage, analyze, and inform acquisition and resourcing decisions for EW platform and weapon portfolios, as well as inform spectrum survivability decisions in systems dependent on the electromagnetic spectrum for operational success. Additionally, PWPM EW serves as the Executive Secretariat co-chair for the Electronic Warfare Executive Committee (EW EXCOM).
The Surface Warfare (SW) directorate conducts capability portfolio management and maintains and applies specialized acquisition and technical expertise to serve as the primary advisors in the Office of the Secretary of Defense for matters dealing with land and naval warfare, and for supporting related technology advancement and lifecycle considerations.
The Cyber Warfare (CW) directorate conducts capability portfolio management for cyberspace operations and conducts mission‐level cyber risk assessments in support of Joint Staff, Services, and Combatant Commands, and integrates findings into relevant Integrated Acquisition Portfolio Reviews.
