G. Arthur McGettrick

Director, Electronic Warfare


Mr. G. Arthur McGettrick is a member of the Senior Executive Service and serves as the Director for Electronic Warfare (EW) in Platform and Weapon Portfolio Management (P&WPM) within the Office of the Under Secretary of War for Acquisition and Sustainment (OUSW(A&S)). He is responsible for acquisition management, policy development, and investment strategy for EW systems across the Department of War. Additionally, he co-chairs the Electromagnetic Spectrum (EMS) Operations Capabilities Team, and the EMS Senior Steering Group; and engages in international EW working groups.

Prior to his current role, Mr. McGettrick served as Deputy Director for Air Warfare under the Director of Operational Test and Evaluation (DOT&E) in the Office of the Secretary of Defense. He oversaw the adequacy of operational testing and live fire evaluation for a broad range of air warfare systems, including aircraft, air-launched weapons, EW and countermeasure systems, aircraft carriers, and data links. His responsibilities included system assessments and formal reporting to both the Secretary of Defense and Congress. Earlier, he served as Senior Evaluator for the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter program, providing oversight for its operational testing.

As an Air Force officer with 21 years of service, Mr. McGettrick led six organizations, including four commands. His expertise spans fighters, bombers, mobility and training aircraft, unmanned aerial systems, weapons, EW data links, and modeling and simulation. As a United States Air Force Weapons School graduate, he led and flew operational tests in the F-15C and F-22. He also held key roles in requirements and acquisition, including as an F-22 requirements officer and as Force Application Division Chief for the Joint Chiefs of Staff (J8). He has logged over 3,000 flight hours in the F-15C, F-15E, and F-22, including 500 combat hours. His military decorations include the Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal, Aerial Achievement Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, and Kuwait Liberation Medal.

Mr. McGettrick holds a Bachelor of Arts in Pre-Engineering from Bethel University and a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Minnesota. He earned a Master of Military Arts and Sciences from Air Command and Staff College, a Master of Aerospace Science from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, and a Master of National Security Strategy from the National War College. He was selected as a National Security Fellow in MIT’s Seminar XXI program and has completed executive education at the Darden School of Business (University of Virginia), the DoD Advanced Professional Executive (APEX) Senior Executive Program, and the Leading Data and AI-Enabled Organizations course at Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Lab. He is a two-time recipient of the Secretary of Defense Meritorious Civilian Service Award.
