Director, Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (C4/ISR)
Mr David Beckwith became a member of the Senior Executive Service (SES) in 2023. He is currently the Director of Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) Division in the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition and Sustainment (A&S). In this position, he is responsible for acquisition oversight of the Intelligence Community (IC) Major Systems Acquisition (MSAs). His portfolio includes MSAs of the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO), National Geospatial Intelligence Agency, National Security Agency, and Defense Intelligence Agency. His Department of Defense portfolio includes major communications systems, command and control for advanced weapons platforms, as well as related ground-based intelligence production, exploitation, and dissemination systems.
Mr. Beckwith retired as a United States Air Force Colonel in 2017. He completed his career as a Senior Material Leader at the NRO. After retiring, he returned to the NRO as a Defense Intelligence Senior Leader (DISL) as the Principal Deputy Director, System Engineering Directorate. Previous assignments included tours at HQ Air Force Materiel Command, Program Executive Office for Airlift and Trainers, NPOESS a Tri-Agency space program with NOAA, Air Force Research Lab, Airborne Laser Program Office and the Signals Intelligence Directorate at the NRO. He has twice worked in industry at Orbital ATK and SAIC as a mission architect, systems engineer and program manager.
Mr. Beckwith holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Notre Dame and a Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Dayton. Mr. Beckwith also graduated from the United States Army War College, Air Command and Staff College and the Defense Systems Management College. He is a member of the of Program Management Institute and a certified Program Manager Professional.
