Trusted Access Program Office

Multi-Project Wafer (MPW) Overview

The Trusted Access Program Office (TAPO) has created a semiconductor fabrication solution for U. S. Government customers with low volume or prototype requirements through the Multi-Project Wafer (MPW) program. This aggregates multiple customer designs onto a reticle/photomask set to be manufactured with GLOBALFOUNDRIES U.S. 2 LLC (GFUS2) mainstream and advanced technologies through a pre-determined MPW run schedule.

Customers seeking access to one of these scheduled runs should complete the following steps. A request for a TAPO website account is the first step. After receiving approval for a TAPO website account, completion of an online Customer Request Form (CRF) is required. Both the account request and CRF require a description of your program and the identity of your U.S. Government sponsor. The CRF requires detailed information about your design, technology needs, and the MPW run in which you wish to enroll. After CRF submittal, the customer will receive an email notice from TAPO that includes CRF receipt confirmation, the assigned TAPO Customer Application Engineer (CAE), and later, a statement confirming that TAPO has vetted your design with your government sponsor. Confirmation notices typically occur within three business days of CRF submittal.

Each MPW rider/request will require legal agreements for access to GFUS2 technologies and design kits. Participating projects must provide design data to the TAPO Run Manager by a specified run close date. Technical support for each rider will be facilitated by the CAE, with help as needed from the TAPO Run Manager and GlobalFoundries Field Application Engineers (FAEs) via GlobalFoundries View (GFV).

Advanced and timely communication with TAPO will ensure the success of your program with respect to MPW availability and enrollment.
