Pricing and Contracting Initiatives (PCI)


The Defense Pricing and Contracting Initiatives Directorate has a DoD-wide scope of responsibilities covering the Joint Staff, all DoD components, other U.S. Government (USG) agencies, and the defense industry to include routinely interfacing with Congress. The responsibilities of the Defense Pricing and Contracting Initiatives Directorate oversees and implements the OSD Initiatives, formulates and oversees complex, DOD-wide pricing policies and strategies supporting the procurement of major acquisitions for the Department. Other responsibilities include:

  • Functional leadership of the Contract Pricing workforce.
  • Establishing and overseeing the Defense Contract Pricing Center of Excellence (COE), resident within DCMA. The COE will act as the Department-wide central repository of all contract business clearances and contract pricing data analyses. In addition, the center will be responsible for providing field contract pricing assistance across the Department as requested.
  • Establishing Pricing, Financing and Profit Policies within the Department of Defense.
  • Conducting peer reviews for all procurements in excess of $500M that require the submission of cost and pricing data.
