Emergency Acquisition Flexibilities

  1. As of 21 May 2013: A Contingency Operation has not been declared, therefore, there are no changes to procurement thresholds. FAR 18.203 and DFARS 218.203 do provide for emergency acquisition flexibilities which are restricted to the specified area listed in the emergency and major disaster stated above.
  2. The Government Purchase Card (GPC) is the preferred method of payment for micro-purchases and every effort should be made to use the GPC before using the convenience checks. Additional guidance for the use of the purchase card may be found in Appendix B of the DoD charge Card Guidebook found at http://www.acq.osd.mil/dpap/pdi/pc/policy_documents.html.

Major Disaster Declaration (States, respective declaration numbers and effective date):

  1. As of 21 May 2013: The President signed a Major Disaster Declaration for the State of Oklahoma (DR 4117) to supplement state, tribal, and local recovery efforts in the area affected by the severe storms and tornados.
