DoD Repellent System

The U.S. military has effective countermeasures against bites and stings from disease vectors and nuisance insects, ticks, and other pests.  The military recommends use of permethrin for uniforms and bed nets treatment, and application of an insect repellent on exposed skin.  Concurrent use of repellents on the skin (DEET or Picaridin) and clothing (permethrin) should provide maximum personal protection against arthropods.  The following repellent products are approved by the AFPMB and are available for requisition through Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) supply system:

Procedure for Ordering Repellents

Insect repellent NSNs are ordered directly by military or federal activities via funded MILSTRIP requisitions or via DOD EMALL. Insect repellents are Class 3 supply items.  Users should contact their S4 POC or the DLA Chemist for any technical/quality/logistical/ordering inquires/questions at 804-279-3995
