The Department continues to ensure the use of structured, rigorous evaluations of critical energy requirements, risks, and mitigations by completing installation energy plans (IEPs) for all installations. IEPs drive a more integrated and systematic approach to energy management through informed energy planning, and support a more holistic energy plan with input from all stakeholders. Department-wide use of IEPs for implementing energy projects and programs ultimately results in better long term installation energy performance. In FY 2021, the DoD continued completion of IEPs across the enterprise, focusing installation resiliency requirements to the most advantageous technology and funding execution paths.
