Assistant Secretary of Defense for Energy, Installations, and Environment

Mission

The Assistant Secretary of Defense for Energy, Installations, and Environment (ASD(EI&E)) provides safe, resilient, and robust platforms, enabling the warfighter to execute their mission, train, conduct maintenance, and support service member families.

Vision

Enable military operations through robust and resilient installations.

Our Priorities

To protect and sustain warfighter readiness while strengthening our operational capacity, reduce operational costs, and increase lethality by providing policy and governance for programs and activities that enable resilience for systems and installations.

Support readiness and protect the quality of life for military personnel and their families by ensuring access to safe, high-quality, and affordable accompanied (family) and unaccompanied housing, delivered through cost-effective military construction, government-leasing, and privatization.

Implement and provide oversight of DOD Operational Energy policy to ensure that Joint Forces have access to the energy needed to fight and win while operating in all domains within contested environments.

Ensure strategic alignment of DoD’s physical infrastructure with warfighter requirements, to include development and execution of policies, guidance, and procedures for basing, real property management, geospatial information and services, and the construction, operations, maintenance and repair of DoD’s worldwide infrastructure portfolio.
