INTERNATIONAL ARMAMENTS COOPERATION
The International Armaments Cooperation (IAC) Directorate supports the Under Secretary of Defense, Acquisition, Technology and Logistics (USD (AT&L)), the Director International Cooperation and other AT&L Principals in managing the DoD's cooperative relationships with foreign countries. The scope of work performed by this Directorate is intra- and international in nature and encompasses the life-cycle acquisition of Defense equipment across the spectrum of planning, programming and budgeting activities including ,research, development, test, evaluation, production, follow-on support and acquisition activities of US and allied governments, military services, and industries.
The Director (IAC) and staff serve in the following capacity: USD(AT&L) focal point for Defense-related international research, development, production and support activities involving cooperation between the US Government and governments/industries of allied and friendly nations; establishes and implements policies and mechanisms that are consistent with the Secretary of Defense and USD AT&L guidance for strengthening relationships and increasing cooperation with Allies to promote more efficient use of defense resources. These efforts are directly linked to the development and support of urgently needed military capabilities for US and Coalition warfighters; manages the formal bilateral and multilateral meetings & arrangements governing the conduct of such cooperative activities; implements policies and programs established by the President and Secretary of Defense for strengthening Defense equipment acquisition cooperation globally; serves as the primary USD(AT&L) advocate for international armaments cooperation; and manages, supports, and executes DoD's international armaments cooperation activities in concert with US national security objectives.
