INTERNATIONAL ACQUISITION CAREER PATH
International Acquisition is a career path managed by the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition and Sustainment as a sub-specialty within all acquisition career fields. International Acquisition establishes a formal career path for DoD personnel with a preponderance of duties involving implementation or providing support to international cooperative research, development, test and evaluation, acquisition and logistical support programs/projects.
Over 900 Level II and III Program Management positions within the DoD are currently identified as international acquisition, with continued work to investigate proper coding of positions. The International Acquisition Career Path (IACP)
provides DoD training for personnel with duties in international cooperative programs, defense sales and transfers, acquisition strategy development, and technology security and foreign disclosure. Current DAU IACP training
has three levels of international courses. The DAU catalog
contains course training recommendations and requirements for the program management IACP at the corresponding I, II, and III certification levels.
The Director for International Cooperation is the Functional Leader for the IACP, and is responsible for the leadership and oversight of career path development requirements for the International Acquisition community across the Department of Defense (DOD).
