DoD PACKAGING AWARDS

The Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Sustainment (OASD(S)) partners with the National Institute of Packaging, Handling, and Logistics Engineers (NIPHLE) to sponsor the Department of Defense (DoD) Packaging Innovation Excellence Award and Packaging Production Achievement Award. The purpose of these awards is to honor outstanding teams and/or individuals in the DoD packaging community who contribute significantly to the packaging effort by developing new packaging processes, and improving productivity and efficiency throughout the DoD. These awards highlight the DoD's packaging accomplishments and recognize outstanding contributions to packaging innovation, productivity, and performance. These awards serve to increase the overall visibility of DoD packaging functions and accomplishments. The awards are open to DoD military and civilian personnel who contribute significantly to the DoD packaging program.

2022 DoD Packaging Awards Winners

2022 Department of Defense Packaging Innovation Excellence Award presented to the U.S. Army Tank-Automotive and Armaments Command, Integrated Logistics Support Center Packaging Team

The team delivered outstanding performance with an innovative approach to packaging design for the Bradley Under Belly Interim Solution (UBIS) installation kit. The team ensured the container withstood the weight of the belly armor and the extra load generated when the heavy armor plates were put into position for installation. The container passed testing and installation validation. The container provided installers with a solution that is safer and easier to use.

2022 Department of Defense Packaging Production Achievement Award presented to the U.S. Air Force 31st Logistics Readiness Squadron, Packaging and Preservation Team

The team delivered outstanding performance in support of multiple events, including 3 President of the United States receptions, 2 humanitarian missions, 25 North Atlantic Treaty Organization exercises, and 28 Named Operations. The team partnered with industry to streamline customs processes, which resulted in an estimated cost savings of $30 million annually. Additionally, the team demonstrated flexibility in providing immediate cargo deployment support and enabled the execution of various exercises and deployments without delay.
