Acquisition Program Resources

Program Mentoring and Support

The Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Systems Engineering (ODASD(SE)) supports acquisition programs with the objective of providing program managers with recommendations and guidance early enough to reduce program risk.

Our Major Program Support team provides a hands-on approach including support in the early stages of program initiation, establishment of the Systems Engineering Working Integrated Program Team, and development of the Systems Engineering Plan. This approach ensures ODASD(SE) is familiar with issues facing acquisition programs and allows ODASD(SE) to develop policy and guidance that will have a significant impact on Department of Defense acquisition. In addition, ODASD(SE) has respected experts available to provide advice in specific problem areas such as software engineering, system assurance, specialty engineering, system of systems engineering, risk mitigation, and sustainment.

Major Program Support organizes its support to acquisition programs around Program Support Team Leads (PSTL). PSTLs serve as the primary ODASD(SE) point of contact to the program manager and a single ODASD(SE) voice to the Defense Acquisition Board. PSTLs have access to a diverse range of resources that may be tailored to individual program needs.
