WORKFORCE RESOURCES

Certification Requirements

The Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) requires the acquisition workforce to be recognized as having achieved professional status (i.e. certified). Certification is achieved through determination that an employee meets the education, training, and experience standards required for their career field; there are three progressive levels of certifications. The Defense Acquisition University (DAU)'s Interactive Catalog (iCatalog) contains the career field certification standards for DAWIA Engineering (ENG) and Production, Quality, and Manufacturing (PQM) career field Certification Levels I through III as well as links to the course descriptions for each core certification and core plus training course.

Once certified, acquisition personnel are required to participate in meaningful continuous learning activities in order to stay current and proficiency in their functional discipline.
